How to Choose a Clinic as a Dental Tourist

When traveling abroad for dental care, it's important to do your research and choose a reputable clinic and doctor. We have all heard horror stories of implants gone wrong and crowns not fitting. You do not want to spend three times as much fixing something when

you are looking to save money in the first place! Do your research upfront so you can get the best outcome and experience. Here are some key factors to consider when selecting a dental clinic as a dental tourist:

Credentials and Qualifications: Look for a clinic staffed by licensed, experienced dentists who have received their training from accredited institutions. There are a lot of dentists practicing abroad that have gone to U.S. dental schools and returned to their home countries and cater to dental tourists. Check that the dentists and staff have the necessary certifications and memberships in professional dental organizations. Be aware that sometimes you may get passed to an ‘associate dentist’ in the clinic, so you want to research all of the doctors.

Facility and Equipment: The clinic should have a modern, well-equipped facility with the latest dental technology and sterilization procedures. A lot of clinics abroad have offices even nicer than ones in the U.S. or U.K. Technology such as intraoral scanner and crown milling machines can make your treatment more precise and efficient. Do not compromise on recieving high-quality, safe treatment.

Patient Reviews: Read online reviews from past patients to gauge the clinic's level of service, patient satisfaction, and overall reputation. Look for consistent positive feedback. A few bad reviews here and there shouldn’t be a big deal. You want to see that others in your same situation and need have been taken care of with compassion and had an overall good experience.

Communication and Language: Ensure the clinic has staff who can communicate effectively with you in a language you understand, making the process smoother and allowing you to discuss your needs. You need to understand what you need and what you are paying for!

Pricing and Transparency: Get a detailed breakdown of all costs upfront, including any additional fees. Compare prices to ensure you're getting a fair deal as a dental tourist. Do NOT go with the cheapest clinic. All good things are worth paying a little more for. The race to the bottom in costs may end up costing you more in the end. Be happy that you are still likely saving over 50% when compared to home!

By considering these factors, you can find a reliable dental clinic and doctor who will provide you with the quality care you need during your dental tourism experience.
